Ecosystem service

Forest biomass provides a range of different ecosystem services. One of the main services forms wood production for construction and furniture production. The ecosystem service wood production is modelled based on ecosystem conditions and functions, such as soil texture, groundwater level and drainage class which define the biophysical suitability for wood production.

 

 

Maps from the NNK-model

Four maps about wood production on Atlas of Natural Capital are based on the Dutch Natural Capital Model. The maps can be viewed by clicking on the titles below.

Technical documentation

Some maps within the ecosystem service of wood production are developed according to the Dutch Natural Capital Model (NNK-model). Starting point for the modelling of these maps is the method of natuurrapport 2014 (see reference). Subsequently the model was adapted for the Dutch situation.
